Veterans Leave of Absence and Readmission Policy

Columbia University School of Nursing adheres to the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 regarding veteran’s leave of absences and readmission policies. If a student is planning a military leave, he or she must give advance written or verbal notice of military service to the school’s Associate Dean of Student Affairs, unless such notice is precluded by military necessity. To be readmitted, the student must give notice (written or verbal) of his or her intent to re-enroll to the school’s Associate Dean Student Affairs no later than three years after the completion of the period of service. If the student is recovering from a service-related injury or illness, the student must notify the school no later than two years after recovery. Students may contact the Office of Student Services for more information.
