Arlene Smaldone, PhD, associate professor, was the co-author of “Components of Interventions that Improve Transitions to Adult Care for Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes,” published in Journal of Adolescent Health.   

 

Patricia Stone, PhD, Centennial Professor of Health Policy, was an author of “Differences in Work Environment for Staff as an Explanation for Variation in Central Line Bundle Compliance in Intensive Care Units,” published in Health Care Management Review.

 

Several faculty members including Carolyn Sun, associate research scientist; Yu-hui Ferng, MPA, program manager, Office of Global Initiatives and WHO Collaborating Center for Advanced Practice Nursing; Kenrick Cato, PhD, associate research scientist; Jennifer Dohrn, DNP, director, Office of Global Initiatives and assistant professor; and Elaine L. Larson, PhD, associate dean of scholarship and research, were authors of “Increasing Human Resource Capacity in African Countries: A Nursing and Midwifery Research Summit,” published in International Journal of Africa Nursing Sciences. 

 

Presentations and Honors:

Jacqueline Merrill, PhD, professor of nursing, presented her views on changing paradigms in the field of biomedical informatics as a member of the American College of Medical Informatics’ Panel Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Symposium on Computer Applications in Medical Care at the 2016 Symposium of the American Medical Informatics Association, in Chicago.

 

Rebekah Ruppe, DNP, assistant professor of nursing, authored “Chapter 17-Autoimmune Conditions” for Pharmacology for Women’s Health, which was chosen #1 in the Maternal-Child Category in American Journal of Nursing’s 2016 Book Awards.

 

Briefs:

Susan Fox ’84 was named the chair of the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association (NorMet).

 

Sarah Collins ’09 has been appointed to the AMIA (the American Medical Informatics Association) Board of Directors.
