Winter Storm Weather Advisory
January 31, 2021
Dear Nursing Students,
With a winter storm weather advisory in effect for the NYC area tomorrow, this is a good opportunity to review Columbia Nursing’s Emergency Plan for school closures:
Students and faculty can check for emergency and school closure information by:
-
Visiting Columbia Nursing’s website: www.nursing.columbia.edu
Students should also check their CUIMC Exchange email account:
- Check for emails from program directors and/or course instructors (in some cases the school may remain open but instructors may cancel individual classes)
Clinical attendance during inclement weather:
- Students should call their instructors/preceptors before leaving for clinical to make sure that the site is open and that the preceptor will be there.
- If it is unsafe for a student to travel to a clinical site, student should not travel. Student must contact their instructor/preceptor prior to the expected start of the clinic day to let them know they will not be able to attend and to arrange additional hours with their preceptors to make up for the lost day.
Simulation classes are cancelled tomorrow, Monday, February 1, 2021.
Students are also encouraged to sign up for Campus Emergency Text Alerts through SSOL (see details in the Security & Safety section).
For more information on emergency preparedness and to check for any NYC severe weather warnings, you can visit The New York City Severe Weather website.
Stay Safe and Warm,
Columbia Nursing Office of Student Affairs
