Statement from Columbia Nursing about the Supreme Court’s Ruling on Affirmative Action
Dear Columbia Nursing community,
In no arena is an appreciation for diversity more integral than in the health care professions. It is thus with an undimmed devotion to the value of a diverse and inclusive culture that I am sharing with you the University’s statement regarding today’s Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action; in addition, you may have had a chance to see the CUIMC statement that was sent out earlier today, reinforcing this commitment.
I would like to underscore that our school will follow the law while remaining committed to fostering a diverse student body that is core to our mission. My team and I will remain in contact as the administration gains a better understanding of the implications of this ruling. We look forward to coming together in the months ahead to discuss the decision and what it means for our students, instructional staff, and community.
I invite you to join us in our mission of continuing to prioritize a diverse and inclusive culture.
