Message to the Community from Dean Frazier

Dear Columbia Nursing community,

As we navigate this period of uncertainty, I want to remind you of a few foundational beliefs that have always given me strength during challenging times. At the very top of those beliefs are nursing’s core values of human dignity, integrity, autonomy, altruism, and social justice. These values define who we are and will never change, regardless of what is happening around us. They will continue to guide us as we fulfill our mission—and I hope also as we each go about our daily lives.

We are a strong, steadfast community, and now more than ever I call on us all to tap into and build on our sense of community and shared humanity and support for each other.

As you carry out your educational, clinical, and scholarly work, please know that you continue to have my deepest gratitude and appreciation. I am confident that your dedication to our mission and your commitment to excellence will become ever stronger as we make our way shoulder to shoulder through these times.

Finally, I want to make sure you know that the School of Nursing’s senior leadership is working closely with the University to chart our path forward. We remain resolute in our sense of purpose.

I will share news as it becomes available. In the meantime, I close by thanking you again for your dedication.
