Inaugural Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing Feature Faculty and Alumni as Fellows

On June 11, 2024, the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) named Ashley Graham-Perel, EdD, assistant professor and director, Office of Diversity and Cultural Affairs, and Jacquelyn Taylor, PhD, Helen F. Pettit Professor and founding executive director of the Center for Research on People of Color, Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (ADLN) Fellows. 

The following Columbia University School of Nursing alumni have also been named: 

  • Felesia Bowen, PhD’10 

  • Lucinda Canty, BS’91 

  • Wanda Montalvo, PhD’15 

According to the NBNA, the inaugural ADLN Fellows have demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of nursing education, research, practice, policy, or administration as it relates to issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. An induction ceremony will be held on July 25, 2024, in San Francisco.  

Founded in 1971, the NBNA represents 350,000 Black registered nurses, licensed vocational/practical nurses, nursing students, and retired nurses from the U.S., Eastern Caribbean, and Africa. Its mission is “to serve as the voice for Black nurses and diverse populations ensuring equal access to professional development, promoting educational opportunities and improving health.”
