Suzanne Bakken DNSc, RN, FAAN has been appointed to The Alumni Chair

On February 4, 2002, a reception was held in the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs to honor Dr. Suzanne Bakken. The Alumni Chair was funded by money given by alumni over the years. The initial gift of $1 million was presented to the School in 1992 and has now grown to over $2 million. Dr. Bakken is Professor of Nursing and Medical Informatics. Dr. Bakken's recent proposal to establish an explanatory Center in Evidence Based Practice for the Underserved received a $742,000 award from the NIH. HRSA has also awarded $782,000 for Dr. Bakken's development of a new Master's specialty in informatics in the School of Nursing. Dr. Bakken's record of scholarship and research will continue to enrich Columbia University School of Nursing and bring honor to all alumni.
