PhD student selected as invitee to RWJF New Connections Symposium

PhD student Raquel Ramos, recruited through the TRANSIT initiative in 2011, was selected as an invitee to  the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's  New Connections annual summer symposium. This highly competitive 3 day conference brings together some of the best and brightest under-represented minority pre and postdocs from the biomedical and behavioral sciences for an in-depth mentoring experience with national academic leaders and researchers. In past years, Director Nancy Reame has served as a mentor, and co-Director Robert Lucero has been an invited participant. Raquel is a predoctoral fellow with Dr Suzanne Bakken and has served as the TRANSIT student representative and recruiter for the last two years. She is also a member of the School’s Diversity Committee.
