The National Institute of Nursing Research has awarded Columbia University School of Nursing $2,362,211 to continue the Center for Evidence-based Practice (CEBP) in the Underserved for an additional five years. Led by Suzanne Bakken, Principal Investigator, the primary aim of CEBP is to facilitate the development of biobehavioral research capacity in self-management for underserved populations. It establishes four cores led by interdisciplinary scientists: Administrative (Suzanne Bakken and Elaine Larson); Self-Management, Biobehavioral, and Informatics (Nancy Reame and Karina Davidson); Design, Methods, Biostatistics, and Economic Analysis (Joyce Anastasi and Haomeo Jia); and Dissemination and Translation (Mary Byrne and Eneida Mendonca). The four feasibility studies that will be conducted during the next five years will be led by: Sally Aboelela, Bernadette Capili, Leanne Currie, and Arlene Smaldone. This is Sue's fourth grant as PI this year. She has already received funding from NINR to renew the pre-and post-doctoral training grant for five years, as well as funding from the National Library of Medicine, and a CUMC Clinical and Translational Science Award planning grant.
