Columbia Nursing encourages students at all degree levels to develop an understanding of global health issues.
Because of the compact and intense schedule of classes at Columbia Nursing, the most suitable time frame for international volunteer opportunities is either in the spring, late summer, or during the winter break. . For example, BS/MS students going to La Clinica de Familia in La Romana, Dominican Republic as part of their integration experience go in the spring semester; master’s students typically go in summer. The Office of Student Affairs and Office of Global Initiatives notifies students of these upcoming opportunities.
When available, Columbia Nursing provides funds to supplement credit-bearing international student experiences.
