From The Dean: Columbia Nursing Moves to #8 in U.S. News & World Report's Nursing School Rankings

DNP Program Rated #4

U.S. News & World Report recently released the 2017 rankings of top graduate schools in the US. We are pleased that Columbia University School of Nursing has moved from 11th to 8th; placing us in the top 10 schools of nursing in the nation. For the first time, U.S. News & World Report ranked Doctor of Nursing practice (DNP) programs; our DNP program was rated fourth in the nation.

In addition, two Columbia Nursing specialty programs are ranked among the top ten in the nation: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, and Family Nurse Practitioner.

While rankings of this sort must always be viewed with care, it is nonetheless satisfying for our school to be acknowledged for its commitment to outstanding academic programs, research, and clinical service. This achievement is shared by our faculty, students, alumni and staff who make Columbia Nursing one of the exceptional graduate nursing schools in the nation.

Patients, as well as health care colleagues who interact with Columbia nurses recognize immediately the quality of their professional preparation and commitment to the values and principles of nursing.  I am honored to be part of this extraordinary school and look forward to working with you to build on this progress.
