COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF NURSING WINS COMPUTERWORLD HONORS AWARD FOR SYBASE MOBILE SOLUTION

WASHINGTON, D.C. June 7, 2006 Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and wireless software, today announced that Columbia University School of Nursing was named a winner in the Education and Academia category by the 2006 Computerworld Honors Program. Sybase was also honored as a laureate for its AvantGo mobile Internet service. AvantGo was nominated for the Computerworld Honors Award by Juniper Networks. Columbia University School of Nursing won for its development of the personal digital assistant (PDA)-based system to replace the existing paper-based student clinical logs for Nurse Practitioners (NP). Sybase OneBridge synchronization software was essential to the success of this PDA-based solution. Using Sybase technology, NP students can practice in under-served areas with access to technology that can be synchronized with the central data repository. Sue Bakken and Mosely Chazsar accepted the award of behalf of the research team for the NINR-funded project entitled "Mobile Decision Support for Advanced Practice Nurses."
